“Women Who Rock” Brings Emerging Stars to Bradley

October 3, 2013

Up and coming country artist and Reality TV personality Shanna Henderson is making a stop at Bradley University for the ACBU “Women Who Rock” event this Friday, October 4.   Henderson appeared on the Oxygen Channel’s “The Glee Project” and is now working on her country music career in Nashville, TN.

The “Women Who Rock” series supports Breast Cancer awareness.  Coordinators say since October is dedicated to raising awareness about Breast Cancer research, they created this series to help promote awareness through strong women role models.  In the past, they have focused on having live musical performances, but this year they wanted to create more meaningful events while still bringing music to campus for students to enjoy.

ACBU is partnering with Bradley’s Chi Omega sorority and the Susan G Komen Peoria Affiliate for the series.  The concert will be held in the Robert Michel Student Center Ballroom on Friday, October 4 at 7pm.  It is free and open to the public.

“Women Who Rock” continues on Monday night with comedian Tig Notaro.  She has made appearances on a number of T.V. shows including Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Comic Standing, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and has made appearances on the Sarah Silverman show, The Office, Community, The Life and Times of Tim, and in Motherhood.  She has also had her own half-hour special on Comedy Central.  Notaro is also a Breast Cancer survivor.
