October 9, 2013

The Bradley University Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band will present An Afternoon of Jazz on Sunday, October 20, at 3:00 p.m. in the Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue. Admission is free for students and $5.00 for adults. Tickets will be available at the door.

The 18-member Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Todd Kelly, will perform the music of Bob Mintzer, John Clayton, Sammy Nestico, and several others. The Jazz Lab Band, also directed by Kelly, will open the concert with several selections, including “Fat Cakes,” “Cold Duck Time,” “Emanon,” and “Shake a Tail Feather.”

Dr. Todd Kelly, Associate Professor of Music, directs the Bradley Jazz Bands and Jazz Combo, teaches studio trumpet, and serves as the advisor for the Music Business program. He maintains a busy performing schedule in the Central Illinois area as a member of the Todd Kelly Jazz Quintet, Four Other Brothers, JC and the Redemption, and as a freelance jazz and classical musician. He is in demand throughout the Midwest as a clinician, adjudicator, and guest artist.

Ticket sales for this Music Scholarship Concert Series performance will generate scholarship funds for Bradley music students.
