Nicole D. Meyer, a Peoria-native, is the Director of the Pre-Law Center at Bradley University. Since her 2011 appointment, Ms. Meyer has established a summer camp at Bradley for high school students interested in the legal field. She also formed a partnership with Bradley students and CASA of Peoria County. Ms. Meyer further established an External Advisory board consisting of a federal judge, two attorneys, and a former law school dean. She additionally partnered with the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, creating the Bradley University Law Scholar Program. Ms. Meyer is a member of the Midwest Association of Pre-Law Advisors
Prior to her employment at Bradley, Ms. Meyer was an attorney with the law firm of SmithAmundsen, LLC in Chicago. For several years, she devoted her career in civil litigation primarily to the representation and defense of trucking companies in commercial transportation cases. Ms. Meyer also practiced in the areas of products and premises liability. She practiced law in the State of Illinois, United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois, United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. While at SmithAmundsen, Ms. Meyer spent time mentoring and advising law students.
Before working for SmithAmundsen, Ms. Meyer clerked for two judges in Chicago, Illinois. There, she dedicated her time to analyzing motions heard before the court and assisting in drafting court opinions.
Nicole Meyer received her J.D. degree from DePaul University College of Law where she spent much of her time in the “Death Penalty Clinic,” helping defend capital cases. There, she also was given the opportunity to investigate former Governor George Ryan’s corruption case. During her time at DePaul, she taught high school students who were interested in pursuing law degrees and additionally worked at a plaintiff's personal injury law firm. Before attending law school, she received her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with highest honors.
Ms. Meyer is a member of the Peoria County Bar Association where she sits on the Young Lawyers and the Diversity Committees. Additionally, she serves on the Campaign Committee for Prairie State Legal Services.
Nicole Meyer is an active member of the Peoria community, as she is a member of the Junior League of Peoria and has served on the Executive Board of the Pediatric Resource Center .
In her spare time, Ms. Meyer enjoys traveling, exercising, dining out, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
