Hilltop Studios Opens

Stemming from the already established and successful roots of the Bradley University music business program comes Hilltop Studios. Hilltop Studios is a recording arts and audio production studio that provides a premiere recording facility for music, speech, and other audio related activities on campus.

This studio is an addition to the oldest Music Business program in the country. The Music Business program at Bradley was established in 1948 and is one of only 30 in the nation to be affiliated with the International Music Products Association.

Hilltop Studios will officially open its doors to the Bradley community Friday, September 25, at 2:00 in front of Constance Hall at 824 N. Elmwood. The studio itself is located in University Hall. Audio equipment was donated by the Bradley University Department of Music and other local recording entities. Equipment has been tested by student musicians with full musical projects being completed in the studio. The studio includes a "live room" that lends itself as rehearsal space for the Bradley University Jazz Combo and holds potential for further rehearsal usage.

The need for an on campus recording studio was first recognized in the fall of 2013 when the Bradley University Department of Music offered a recording arts and sciences class. Since then, there has been an overwhelming amount of interest in providing the resources needed to grow this recording arts class on Bradley's campus. The project has now expanded its goals from merely being a classroom, to providing the means to handle the recording needs on campus.

The studio will have scheduled times for students and faculty to book with a rate of $20 per hour. Faculty will have free use of the facility. Hilltop Studios can be reached at buhilltopstudiosbu@gmail.com.
