Sales Students Attend National Competition

Four Bradley business students competed in the National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC) at Kennesaw State University April 7-10. The competition is the largest and oldest sales role-play competition in the U.S.

Marketing seniors Victoria Wurster of Chillicothe, Illinois, Christian Ivy of Maywood, Illinois, Taylor Maloney of Morton, Illinois and economics senior Alex Hughes of Arlington Heights, Illinois, represented Bradley.

NCSC offers top students from sales programs across the nation an opportunity to sharpen sales skills in a competitive environment. The event also provides a venue to network with business professionals, peers and sales faculty from around the globe.

The NCSC also allows sponsors to observe, engage and recruit the students through competition, streamed videos, an on-site career fair and promotional resume books.

“After competing, I went around the job fair and looked at sponsors,” said Wurster. “There were several companies there, which were looking for sales students to start working for them. One of our alternates was in the market for a job and had numerous interviews while there, leading to offers by the end of the trip.”

Wurster credited her positive experience to opportunities offered at Bradley.

“The experiences I’ve had at Bradley have helped me be personable and have the ability to walk into a room of employers and have a casual conversation with them,” she said. “I think the sales networking events before the job fairs on campus have given me the communication skills necessary to be comfortable in situations with many employers and students in a room.”
