Each spring an outstanding MBA student is chosen by a vote of the MBA faculty. Students are chosen on the basis of their academics, service activities and professional activities.

Outstanding Executive Master in Business Administration Student

The Executive MBA Outstanding Student Award is presented by the EMBA faculty and staff to the EMBA student who has made the most significant academic contribution in the Executive MBA program. 

Outstanding Master of Science in Accounting Student

Dr. Kalman Goldberg, Distinguished Professor of Economics and Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Emeritus, started at Bradley University in 1952 as an Assistant Professor of Economics.  This award is presented to graduating seniors with outstanding academic performance in the Foster College of Business.

John M. Ruble Outstanding Accounting Student Award

Professor John M. Ruble began his career in the Department of Accounting in 1956.  Professor Ruble was an Interim Director of the Department of Accounting and Professor of Accounting.  This award recognizes outstanding academic performance, service to the Department of Accounting, and the potential for professional excellence. 

Baker Tilly Virchow Krause Accounting Award

Emily J. West

Baker Tilly is one of the top 15 accounting and advisory firms in the country.  This award is presented to a full-time junior or senior accounting major participating in the integrated 3:2 program.  The recipient will have participated in university, department, or community organizations and exhibited a potential for leadership as displayed by those activities.

Caterpillar Accounting Award

Azelia Clar

This annual award, funded by Caterpillar Inc. goes to students in their junior year while demonstrating academic excellence and participating in accounting student activities.

Institute of Management Accountants Award

Evan P. Webber

This award recognizes academic performance by a student who demonstrates an interest in a management accounting career.  The award is funded by the Central Illinois Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants. 

Douglas W. Pollock Endowed Accounting Scholarship

Jaclyn J. Eiselt

This scholarship goes to an accounting major in good academic standing as recommended by the Financial Assistance Office in consultation with the Department of Accounting. It is funded through an endowment established by alumnus Douglas W. Pollock ’71.

Arthur G. Mehl Scholarship

Jennifer N. Addis

Professor Arthur G. Mehl started in 1957 and was a former chairperson of the Department of Accounting.  This endowed scholarship is presented to a full-time accounting major entering a fifth year of accounting in recognition of academic excellence, service to the department, and a high potential for professional success.

Gillespie Accounting Scholarship

Tyler G. Frizzo

The scholarship was endowed by accounting alumnus Harry A. Gillespie ‘48.  The scholarship is awarded to accounting majors based on recommendations from the accounting faculty.

Department of Accounting Academic Excellence Award

This award is funded by donations received from Department of Accounting alumni.  It is given in recognition of a student’s superior academic achievement.

Gordon, Stockman & Waugh Scholarship

Rebecca A. Markham

This scholarship goes to an accounting major in good academic standing as selected by the Department of Accounting.  It was funded through an endowment established by Gordon, Stockman & Waugh, a certified public accounting firm offering a broad range of accounting, auditing, management consulting, and income tax planning and compliance services. 

Heinold Banwart Accounting Award

This award goes to an accounting major in good academic standing who is entering or enrolled in the 3:2 accounting program or the Master of Science in accounting program, or is completing 150 credit hours needed for the CPA exam. It is funded by Heinold Banwart, a certified public accounting firm offering a broad range of broad range of accounting, consulting, audit & assurance, and tax services.

Institute of Internal Auditors Scholarship

This scholarship goes to a student who has shown an interest in internal auditing and has also demonstrated leadership potential by participating in University, Department, or community organizations.  It was funded by a gift from the Central Illinois Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

Denzil Austin Award

Ryan M. Johnson

Denzil Austin was an academically gifted student whose promising career in economics was ended by a tragic, accidental death in 1975.  His memory as a warmly regarded individual and as a symbol of the committed and talented student is perpetuated by the Denzil Austin Award.  This award is given to a graduating senior with exceptional performance in the economics program. 

Robin Linstromberg Award

Each year the Department of Economics pays tribute to Professor Robin C. Linstromberg, Emeritus, who began his career in 1958 at Bradley University, for his contributions as an exacting but sympathetic teacher, mentor and colleague by honoring a student who best exemplifies such scholarly attributes.

Outstanding Economics Minor Award

Starting in 1982, the department has offered a minor in economics.  Outstanding minor award winners have shown both exceptional classroom performance and upstanding interpersonal qualities.   

Douglas Thorson Outstanding Service in Economics Award

Professor Douglas Thorson, Emeritus, served the department of economics as department chair and provided exemplary leadership to the college.  This award provides recognition to a student who assumed an active service and leadership role to fellow students and the department.

James E. Fussell Memorial Award for Scholarship

Chance A. Dowds

James E. Fussell was a dedicated professor in the Business Management and Administration Department since 1966.  Though he only chaired the BMA Department for one year due to a very unexpected death in 1973, he was highly regarded as a valued colleague and administrator in the department.  This award is given in recognition of academic achievement and is presented by the faculty of the Department of Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Law.

Fred Fry Scholarship

Dr. Fred Fry began his career at Bradley University in 1976 and was a professor of entrepreneurship who is responsible for establishing the Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Law Department’s entrepreneurship major.  He taught in the Business Management and Administration Department for 25 years.  The award is given in recognition of academic achievement and the student’s significant contribution and involvement in entrepreneurial activities.

Gerald E. Hills Award for Academic Excellence in Entrepreneurship

Dr. Gerald E. Hills was named the Turner Chair of Entrepreneurship in 2009.  This award is given to the student in the entrepreneurship major with the highest GPA.

William A. Clarey Award

Established in 1991, the William A. Clarey Award is given in recognition of academic achievement and dedication to the pursuit of a college education, and recognizes a student who has overcome a significant hardship to complete a degree.

Richard I. Hartman Endowed Scholarship

Dr. Richard I. Hartman, Professor of Management, started at Bradley University in 1961 teaching in the Business Management and Administration Department and was responsible for establishing the department’s Human Resource concentration.  He was chairperson of the department for 14 years.  The award is given in recognition of academic achievement, service to the Department of Management and Leadership and the potential for significant contribution in the field of human resource management.

Rustan Kosenko Academic Excellence Award

The Rustan Kosenko Academic Excellence Award is presented annually in recognition of extraordinary academic achievement.  The Kosenko Award is named in honor of the late Dr. Rustan Kosenko an outstanding scholar, marketing educator, and colleague.  The award is presented each year to the senior marketing major with the highest cumulative grade point average.

The Marketing Academic Excellence Award is presented annually to the top senior marketing majors.  The award is given to those marketing majors who have displayed academic excellence as validated by their cumulative grade point average.  These students will all graduate magna cum laude or summa cum laude. 

Paul E. Arney Outstanding Marketing Student Award

The Paul E. Arney Outstanding Marketing Student Award is named in honor of the late Professor Paul Arney.  Professor Arney’s relationship with Bradley University spanned four decades, during which time he dedicated himself to providing an outstanding educational experience for Bradley marketing students and enriched their lives by sharing his experiences and love for life.  The Arney Award is presented annually to a senior marketing major in recognition of outstanding academic achievement, interpersonal skills, and professional potential.      

Procter & Gamble Sales Scholarship

Natalie M. Cabell

The Procter & Gamble Sales Scholarship is funded by Procter & Gamble.  This scholarship is given annually to a junior or returning senior marketing major who has exhibited both academic excellence and an interest in pursuing a career in sales and/or sales management as a career.  The scholarship is intended to enhance interest and professional skills development in the vital area of sales and sales management.

Cavusgil Award for Outstanding International Business Student

Alejandra M. Gillen

The Cavusgil Award for Outstanding International Business Student is named in honor and recognition of the support provided by Dr. S. Tamer Cavusgil.  Professor Cavusgil was the first professor of International Business at Bradley University.  He is widely recognized as a leader in global business education and research.  The Cavusgil Award is presented annually to the senior international business major that has best demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and the potential for an outstanding career in global business.
