Bradley Triathlon Club Continues Growth and Impact

Bradley Triathlon Club’s fourth indoor triathlon topped more than 100 competitors in a record-setting year for event participation. The event drew students from Bradley and other Illinois universities, including Illinois State University, Northwestern University and the University of Illinois.

Competitors in the triathlon completed a 10-minute swimming race, a 20-minute stationary bike round and concluded with a 15 minute run.

“The Bradley Triathlon Club is a great organization, and Bradley University is fortunate to have such great leadership and committed athletes,” said faculty advisor Dr. Larry Weinzimmer. “Bradley should be proud of its commitment to the sport.”

As Alexander Alvarez ’16, a Finance major from Streamwood, Illinois and Bradley Triathlon Club President, winds down his senior year, he reflected on some of the highlights he has had with the Bradley Triathlon Club.

“Teaming up with Bushwacker at the Peoria Outdoor Triathlon was a huge highlight,” Alvarez remarked. “Seeing the club grow and interacting with alumni that are still very engaged was also amazing.”

This spring, the triathlon club is gearing up for the 2016 USA Triathlon Collegiate Nationals April 22-23 in Clemson, South Carolina.

The club, which includes students of all athletic abilities and academic backgrounds, was previously highlighted.
