Congratulations to Dr. Brad Brown on this outstanding accomplishment.  The College of LAS initiated a Notable Publication Award this year for best article-length publication in a peer-reviewed journal or book anthology. The selection committee included a faculty member from each of the three LAS divisions--Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences. There were six submissions from across the College. Dr. Brown's article, entitled "Louis-Philippe Before the Throne: Masculine Virtue and the Metiér of an Enlightened Prince" and published in The Journal of Historical Biography in 2012, won. The article is innovative and well-written, merging gender theory with psychological and political analysis to explain the strange career of King Louis-Philippe d'Orleans during early 19th-century France. Congratulations Dr. Brown!
