Debora
Van Hoorn serves as Bradley University's Certification Officer and
Coordinator of Field Experiences. As such, she has a two-fold
mission: to certify all Bradley University students seeking teacher
certification from the State of Illinois and to place all Bradley
students, Freshman through Senior, in the required field experiences
in appropriate educational settings. She serves as a liaison
between the College of Education and the Illinois State Board of
Education.
Dr.
Van Hoorn received a Bachelor of Science in Junior High and Middle
School Education, with minors in English and Reading, from Illinois
State University. She also received a Master of Science in
English from ISU, then a Doctor of Arts in Rhetoric and Composition
from ISU. She holds both elementary and secondary teaching
certificates.
Dr. Van Hoorn holds membership in a
number of English and Education organizations. She also serves
as a Board Member on the Eureka District 140 School Board. She
has a keen interest in global educational practices. In pursuit
of that interest she has traveled extensively and has lectured on
Higher Education and English in China.
