the state of Illinois, around the Midwest, and indeed across the
United States, you’ll find our
graduates working in a wide range of health care settings.
That’s because our
innovative undergraduate
health science major is great preparation for careers such as
hospital or health care administration, public relations, advertising,
patient management, medicine, health care advocacy, technical support,
research, and more. It also offers the option of direct admission
into our graduate program in physical therapy.
The graduate
physical therapy program teaches biomechanics, neurosciences,
musculoskeletal, physiology, motor learning, research, and administrative
theory. With this foundation students learn examination, evaluation,
diagnostic, and intervention skills, and they practice their skills
in five clinical rotations.

- Congratulations to the following PT alumni for being awarded ABPTS certification: Andy Peterson (Sports), Karey Leadbetter (Geriatrics), Jennifer Mai (Neurological), and Nate Johnson (Orthopedics). PTHS faculty members Joe Kelly (Orthopedics), Cheryl Sparks (Orthopedics), and Chrissy Ropp (Geriatrics) were also certified. |

- The DPT program has been ranked among the top 100 programs in the country by U.S. News and World Report! |

- The first graduating class in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program graduated in May 2008. All students have since passed their licensure examinations and gone on to employment. |

- After 18 years of exceptional leadership, Dr. Mary Jo Mays retired as department chair in May of 2008. WEEK-TV featured Dr. Mays and her contributions to the University in a "Postcard From Home" video segment. The college and PT department wishes her the best of luck! |
