The sports industry today is much more than the competition of athletes. It is a major economic and global cultural phenomenon that has rapidly evolved to embrace the media forces of sports journalism, play-by-play, broadcast production, advertising, entertainment, sports public relations and promotion.
Bradley University’s Sports Communication Program is a comprehensive undergraduate degree program that prepares students to take top jobs as communication professionals in this wide world of the sports industry. Students prepare for leadership positions in professional, collegiate and amateur sports; jobs in sports media including radio and television stations and networks, print publication and Internet sports; and as sports information and communication specialists.
As well as studying the practices of the sports industry, the program also reflects emerging scholarly interest in sports communication as a social and cultural influence.
A Professional History in Sports
Bradley’s renowned identification with major intercollegiate sports, especially men’s Division IA basketball, is a significant part of our university history. We maintain an infrastructure, resources, fan base, professional staff, community and corporate support, and a network of notable sports industry alumni without peers for an institution of our size.
