Tunnel of Oppression

The Tunnel of Oppression, originated from Western Illinois University and brought to Bradley University back in 2005, is an interactive event that highlights contemporary issues of oppression in a creative and realistic avenue. It is designed to introduce participants to the concepts of oppression, privilege, and power by guiding them through a series of scenes. Each scene will aim to educate and challenge participants to think more deeply about issues of oppression throughout society.

Typically, the Tunnel of Oppression is planned every two years, in partnership with many different departments on campus. This wait allows for the opportunity to regroup, evaluate, and begin brainstorming and planning for the next Tunnel. Here is a Youtube video that may help you get a better understanding of what this event may entail. This video is from Tunnel planned at Bradley University a few years ago:

"Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone into Someone Else's Reality."
