Why Join OLLI
OLLI offers its members (age 50+) the opportunity to learn, to travel, and to study with their peers from the tri-county (Peoria) area. One of the great benefits of this affiliation is the social interaction that naturally evolves from involvement in OLLI. As a university-based program, OLLI offers programs across a wide spectrum of subjects where the free exchange of ideas is encouraged and honored. The success of OLLI is due, in no small part, to the congeniality of our participants who subscribe to an environment of thoughtful discussion and mutual respect. These ideals enable us to remain informed and excited as lifelong learners. The major programs of OLLI are Classes, Learning Trips, and Study Groups, which are described below. If variety is something you crave, then OLLI Classes will more than satisfy! These 1-hour sessions address a diverse range of topics on every subject imaginable. They are led by community experts, Bradley faculty and staff, and OLLI members—all of whom volunteer their time to OLLI. This unique combination of expertise and subject matter is the foundation for lively discussions and thought-provoking insights. It’s lifelong learning at its best! Because learning happens also outside the classroom, we’ve developed a program that combines education and travel—Learning Trips. With the help of tour guides, docents, and local experts, we enjoy behind-the-scenes information that helps us learn about and fully appreciate our destination. Learning Trips are hosted by our staff in Continuing Education, Michelle Riggio and Emily Skocaj. Together they develop and lead the trips to ensure that OLLI members can fully enjoy each excursion. Recognizing that OLLI members have different interests, we offer a full range of activity levels from a simple walking tour to a more active pace and experience. There's something for everyone! Study Groups explore a subject in depth and are facilitated by OLLI members, Bradley faculty and staff, and community experts who volunteer their expertise to OLLI. Study Groups generally meet two hours for five or six weeks and convene throughout the year. They’re a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of a topic as either a facilitator or participant. If you would like to know more about OLLI, please contact us. We are anxious to involve you in our community of lifelong learners! Please contact:
