Bradley’s speech team continues to successfully speak out. Jacoby Cochran '13 was the national champion at the 140th Interstate Oratory Contest, held April 26-27 at Louisiana State University, Shreveport. Teammate Brooke Stevenson '13 was a semifinalist, finishing in the top 12.
The annual two-day event features the top two oratory competitors from each state delivering their speeches for top honors. Jacoby’s victory marks the first time Bradley has won the contest since 1999.
“As for Jacoby and Brooke, it was great to watch them represent the state with class, poise, and communicative excellence,” said Ken Young ’05, director of forensics. “I am honored to have witnessed these future leaders advocate for their causes. It was awe-inspiring.”
The speech team won championships earlier this year at the American Forensic Association and National Forensic Association tournaments. The team also won both national championships in 2012. Bradley has 41 national speech championship titles since 1978.
