Prints on Parade
March 8, 2013
Bradley’s 34th biennial International Print and Drawing Exhibition opens Saturday March 9 at four locations in Peoria. This year’s exhibition features 160 works created by 105 artists from 34 states, Canada, Costa Rica and Thailand on display through April 20 at the Heuser Art Center, Prairie Center of the Arts, the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria and the Peoria Art Guild.
Three of artists with artwork featured are University alumni. They are: Christopher Troutman '03, Sara Stewart MFA '12, and Jerry Phillips MFA '10.
Stephen Goddard, senior curator and curator of prints and drawings at the Spencer Museum of Art, University of Kansas, juried the exhibition.
“Humans have a natural inclination to arrange things in groups,” Goddard wrote in his juror’s statement for the show. “My selections for the 34th Bradley International Print and Drawing Exhibition spring from this tendency to look for patterns as well as my own professional biases.”
Held biennially since 1950, Bradley’s show is the second-longest running juried print and drawing competition in the country.
