THOMAS PALAKEEL
THOMAS PALAKEEL
Dr. Thomas Palakeel joined the English Department in 1993
after receiving his Ph. D. in British Literature at the University of North
Dakota. A native of India, Dr. Palakeel studied British and American Literatures
at the University of Kerala, creative writing at Eastern Washington University.
Here at Bradley, he teaches courses in creative writing, advanced expository
writing, Literatures of Asia as well as courses in British Literature up
to 1800.
Dr. Palakeel is a bilingual writer in English and Malayalam.
His work has appeared in Manoa, Journal of Modern Literature, Asiaweek,
Short Story International, North Dakota Quarterly, Yatra, and the
Christian Science Monitor. His current research interests include postcolonial
literatures and theory, regional literatures in the era of global popular
culture, Malayalam language and Kerala history, autobiographical
writings, and the future of narrative in the age of cyberspace. Dr. Palakeel
is the coordinator of Ballowe Personal Essay Competition,
and he regularly serves as a judge in the various contests sponsored by
