KEVIN SWAFFORD
A native of southern California, Kevin Swafford joined the English faculty at Bradley University in the fall of 2001. Professor Swafford holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Rhode Island, an M.A. in English from New York University, and a B.A. in English from San Francisco State University. Professor Swafford was the recipient of the 2005/2006 "Caterpillar Inc. Faculty Award for Scholarship." His research focuses primarily on Victorian literature and literary theory. His writing has appeared in The European Studies Journal, Journal of the Midwest Modern Language Association, The Gissing Journal, Kairos, The Journal of Popular Culture, The Wellsian and in the collection Literacy Theory in the Age of the Internet(Columbia University Press). Dr. Swafford's book, Class in Late-Victorian Britain: the Narrative Concern with Social Hierarchy and its Representation is published by Cambria Press. He is currently working on a second book on the aesthetics and politics of travel in Victorian Britain, while also researching a future project on H.G. Wells and dialogic narrative form. At Bradley, Dr. Swafford has taught a wide range of courses in British literature, literary theory, and writing. Dr. Swafford has also taught English 300 fairly regularly in the study abroad program in London and Vienna. |
