Former Secretary of Transportation, Congressman To Speak

Peoria, IL – September 24, 2015 – The Honorable Ray LaHood, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, will speak about his memoir, Seeking Bipartisanship: My Life in Politics, on Thursday, October 1, at 7 p.m. in the Hayden-Clark Alumni Center at Bradley University. The memoir, scheduled to be released this year, provides a personal perspective from the Bradley alumnus, who served both in Congress and in President Obama’s Cabinet. In 1994, LaHood was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he remained for 14 years. Within his first term in Congress, he was named a “freshmen to watch” by theCongressional Quarterly, a highly-respected publication. President Obama appointed LaHood as the 16th Secretary of Transportation in 2009, describing LaHood as an “outstanding public servant.”
