Virtuoso flutist will be guest artist at Bradley

Virtuoso flutist John Thorne will serve as guest artist at Bradley University on Friday, March 4, offering a master class and a recital. 

Mr. Thorne will coach Bradley flutists during the flute master class which will take place from 3:30 - 5:30. At 7:30, he will present a recital with pianist Kay Kim, a collaborative pianist and staff accompanist at Northeastern Illinois University. The program will feature well-known sonatas by French composers Michel Blavet and Francis Poulenc followed by César Franck’s stunning Sonata in A Major, originally composed for violin and piano. Both events will be held in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue, and are free and open to the public. 

Thorne is professor of flute at Northwestern University, a substitute member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and an orchestral and chamber musician at the Grand Teton Summer Music Festival. He previously held the position of Principal Flute of the Houston Symphony.
