Emergency Preparedness Reminder

April 8, 2015

Spring brings with it severe weather.  Here are some severe weather reminders.

Severe Weather Alert
When severe weather conditions have developed the campus will be alerted to take shelter. Move quickly to a designated shelter area (see map located in your building). If you do not have time to get to a designated shelter area, move to an interior room, hallway, restroom, or closet with limited windows.  Try to avoid areas that have expansive, unsupported ceilings. Use the stairs.  Do not use elevators. Assist others who may need assistance. When you have reached shelter, try to stay close to the floor. Assume a seated position and cover your head and face using your coat or other clothing. Wait until an all clear is sounded or for instructions from police or firefighters.

A tornado watch means conditions are right for a tornado. During a tornado watch, staff should be alert to weather conditions.

A tornado warning means that a tornado has been sighted and everyone should take shelter immediately.
