Nursing Program to host White Coat Ceremony

January 26, 2015

The Bradley University Department of Nursing has been selected as one of only 100 nursing programs in the nation to host a White Coat Ceremony for sophomore nursing students.

White coat ceremonies have been hosted by medical and dental schools for several years to recognize entry into practice. In late spring of 2014, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing partnered with the Arnold P. Gold Foundation to provide opportunities to nursing programs to apply for funding to host similar ceremonies. Bradley's department was the only school in Central Illinois to receive this opportunity. This is an inaugural event for not only Bradley's nursing department, but for only 100 nursing programs across the nation.

The White Coat Ceremony will be held on Friday, January 30, at 2 pm in the Michel Student Center Ballroom. Sophomore students were selected as this is the point at which they begin a concentrated supervised clinical experience.

The White Coat Ceremony typically features the recitation of an oath, receipt of a commemorative pin, an address by an eminent role model, and a reception for students and invited guests. The specially designed pin will serve as a visual reminder of the students’ oath and commitment to provide compassionate and high quality care.
