Dean, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Bradley University -- an institution with rich tradition, national reputation, and vibrant academic and student life -- announces a nationwide search to recruit a new Dean to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Founded in 1897, Bradley University is an independent, privately endowed, comprehensive institution. Bradley offers its approximately 5,000 undergraduate students a rich mix of more than 100 programs among five colleges: Liberal Arts and Sciences, Foster College of Business, Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts, Education and Health Sciences, and Caterpillar College of Engineering and Technology. More than 600 graduate students work towards 14 graduate degrees in 31 academic areas. Bradley employs approximately 350 FTE faculty members and has an annual operating budget of more than $150 million.
U.S. News & World Report recognized Bradley as the top Illinois university of its type and fifth among comprehensive universities in the Midwest providing a full range of undergraduate and master's programs. The successful ‘Campaign for a Bradley Renaissance’ has funded numerous student scholarships, the enhancement of the university endowment and the construction of a new recreational center, two new athletic facilities, a new alumni center as well as the remodeling and expansion of Westlake Hall, a historically important academic facility.
As the chief administrative officer of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Dean is responsible for the effective execution of its academic mission. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean has an important role as part of the university’s administrative team. The new Dean’s vision and leadership will help enhance the University’s strong liberal arts and sciences reputation. The best candidates will possess the skills necessary to be an effective advocate for the liberal arts and sciences. They will demonstrate vision, the highest integrity, exemplary communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a consensus-building and transparent leadership style.
