Turning Pain into a Passion to Help Others

Jennifer Grogan, owner and operator of Rekindle Health, began her entrepreneurial journey in 2017. With the support of her husband, they launched Rekindle Health, offering a wide range of holistic services focused on connecting the mind, body, and spirit to help her clients reach their full potential of wholeness, healthiness, and happiness. She specializes in biblical counseling focused on grief and PCOS lifestyle coaching. Still, she continues to grow in her expertise and knowledge to offer her clients a broader range of tools, including addiction and substance abuse training.

Grogan began her personal healing journey at the ripe age of 15, battling issues relating to self-image, including borderline anorexia, which brought about many complications. Later, when she was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), her doctors told her a change in eating habits and lifestyle choices would be the only way to manage her symptoms. Grogan tried a wide range of different remedies to combat her challenges, but it wasn’t until 2016, when she attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, that the solutions became clear. “It’s not just about the food, it has more to do with the reason behind the cravings,” she said. This ideology inspired her to pursue training in counseling, she became a Certified Holistic Biblical Counselor in 2023.

Grogan always felt a calling to counseling. Growing up, she was the quiet, calm ear for her friends. After losing both of her parents to cancer, Grogan learned a hard lesson in the process of grief, “it’s not a linear process, and it doesn’t always look how some may think. Loss isn’t just about someone you love passing away. Grief is related to all kinds of loss from losing a dream job, going through a breakup, and the elderly suffer from the loss of their independence,” Grogan explained.  She used this painful experience as a springboard to offer others hope that there is life after loss, no matter what that loss may be related to.

She faced many challenges during the launching of Rekindle Health. After attending a Social Media for Small Business training webinar, last year, Grogan contacted presenter Theresa Bloom, the Social Media Advisor at the Illinois Small Business Development at Bradley University, who became her mentor. Tapping into Bloom's expertise, Grogan established branding and a website for Rekindle Health. Bloom also taught her about designing tools and the use of social media to connect and engage with current and prospective clients. The biggest obstacle Grogan had to overcome was primarily related to self-doubt. Bloom encourages her, “It’s not about you, it's about what you went through that's going to connect with what they (clients) need, take the focus off you and put it on them,” Grogan shares. When she let go of this self-doubt, she unlocked a new level of freedom in herself and her ability to help clients. “Without Theresa reminding me just to be myself, I wouldn’t feel this new freedom and renewed confidence in my mission.”

Grogan had this mission in her heart to provide a safe space for people to transform their lives. She is excited to have recently established a business location. She focuses on being present in the current moment and doesn’t spend too much energy looking towards the future. “I allow God to be the designer of my roadmap, but I don’t over-focus on making plans for the future because I want to be present in every step of my journey and mission that He is guiding me,” she stated. She shares that He knows her heart’s desire, which includes expanding into a holistic healing hub with yoga, chiropractic services, counseling, massage therapy, and more. Still, she only wants it if God designs it for her, as He is at the center of her mission. Her story is still being written, and she is beyond excited to see what God will do in her life next, both professionally and personally.
