Biography
Tony Bedenikovic places great value on teaching. Rewriting lecture notes, finding better classroom examples, and searching for new ways to articulate complex ideas are all part of his habit of self-evaluation and improvement as a teacher. He believes that teaching is an endeavor which deserves such a commitment.
Tony's research interest is in low-dimensional topology, a branch of mathematics which investigates the structure of space and the relationship between space and the objects in it. As is often true in low-dimensional topology, his work has a strong visual component. Encoding higher-dimensional information in visual, low-dimensional models is a key enterprise in his research papers and his projects with mathematics majors.

Service
Tony Bedenikovic is a common sight on department, college, and university committees. He believes that professional service extends beyond the campus as well. Each year he helps judge a regional high school mathematics competition and he has held various positions in the Illinois Section of the Mathematical Association of America.
