Biography

Chad Lowell joined the Department of Theatre Arts as an Assistant Professor in 2011.

He received his MFA and BA in Theatre from the University of Georgia. For ten years Professor Lowell was the Production Manager and Technical Director of the Illinois Shakespeare Festival in Bloomington, Illinois. He also served in a professional staff position in the Department of Theatre at Illinois State University where he performed a wide range of design, technical direction, and production management assignments and taught courses such as Theatre Practicum, Stagecraft, Stage Design, Period Styles, Technical Solutions, and CAD Design.

At Bradley, Chad teaches design classes such as Fundamentals of Design, Scenic Design, Lighting Design, Sound Design and Scenic Painting. He also teaches a J-term exploration course in London, and he created a May-term exploration class in Las Vegas with Cirque du Soleil.- the only undergraduate Cirque du Soleil partnership in the United States. Chad has over 145 theatre designs over his career. His many scenic and lighting designs at Bradley include the productions of  Men On Boats, Romeo and Juliet, Hearts Like Fists, Twelfth Night, She Kills Monsters, Picnic, Sense and Sensibility, Our Town, Big Love, Eurydice, Spring Awakening, The Seagull, Sideshow, Antigone, the Revolutionists, and many more.
