Biography

Dr. Travis Stern is an Associate Professor of Theatre Arts at Bradley University. He teaches theatre history and literature courses, script analysis, and contemporary theatre practice. He received his Ph.D in Theatre from the University of Illinois and a M.A in Theatre and B.A. in English from Illinois State University. Before coming to Bradley, Dr. Stern served as an Instructional Assistant Professor at Illinois State University, a graduate assistant at the University of Illinois, and as an adjunct instructor at Rend Lake College and Southeastern Illinois College. His current research focus includes the intersections of baseball and theater as well as history and theory of improvisation and comedy. He has presented his work at the Mid-America Theatre Conference, the American Society for Theatre Research, Association for Theatre in Higher Education, the Chicago Theater History Symposium, and the Cooperstown Symposium on Baseball and American Culture. Beginning in 2024-2025, Dr. Stern will serve as president of the Bradley University Senate.
