Bradley Student Receives International Award Recognition

February 10, 2020

Senior Mechanical Engineering major Nikkoh Mendoza has been selected as the recipient of the Delta Upsilon International President's Award: Chapter President of the Year. During his presidency, Nikkoh helped make his fraternity better by focusing on strengthening relationships and enhancing chapter operations.

Nikkoh served as Chapter President in 2018. Working closely with his executive board and advisors he worked to improve the chapter’s budget, lower dues, hire an in-house chef, install a security system, renovate the chapter room and improve the chapter GPA.

Prior to his role as President, Nikkoh saw opportunities for improvement within his fraternity’s foundation and wanted to make strides toward better leadership practices.

“I saw a lot of areas in the fraternity and pinpointed exactly what could be done to utilize all of the potential we had. I saw flaws in our operations, schedule of events, physical chapter house and programming. In short, I provided a plan to make a lot of change to the house and that drove me to want to be President.”

Since his role as Chapter President, Nikkoh currently works on the Interfraternity Council (IFC) as the Director of Membership Development which is the governing body of the fraternities on campus. In this role he coordinates events, scholarships and aids in member experiences. He also serves as an Undergraduate Director for the DU International Organization where he provides the undergraduate voice on decisions, policies and new initiatives.
