Women’s and gender studies minor Danielle Malloy ’17 (political science major) has been accepted to the NEW Leadership Illinois program. This highly selective, non-partisan, residential program for college women is designed to increase women’s representation in all elements of public life, including elected office. NEW Leadership Illinois challenges students to think critically and creatively about public policy and encourages them to make a commitment to public leadership early in their careers. The program will be June 5-9 in Chicago.

NEW Leadership Illinois is a joint initiative of the Institute of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Illinois and the Conference of Women Legislators of the Illinois General Assembly. NEW Leadership Illinois has been developed in partnership with the NEW Leadership Development Network established by the Center for American Women and Politics, a unit of the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The network includes 14 states and the District of Columbia.
