Payment Options
Arrangements are required to be completed prior to the start of each academic term. Families can either pay the full balance or enroll in the Installment Payment Plan, which requires a minimum 20 percent payment of the semester balance.
This is the most economical option and it requires the entire semester balance charges, less financial assistance to be paid in full on or before the due date for that semester.
Reference the Billing Calendar for these due dates.
If the balance for the semester is paid in full prior to the first day of the term, no additional fees are charged unless changes are made to the student’s schedule or financial aid.
This plan divides each semesters’ balance into five installments. Payment is determined by taking semester charges, subtracting semester financial assistance (not including work study), and dividing the balance by 5 and adding a one-time $30 enrollment fee.
The first payment must be a minimum of 20% of the semester balance and is required by the deadline for the respective term.
Reference the Billing Calendar for these deadlines.
A one-time finance charge of 4% will be applied to the remaining balance on the first day of the term.
Remaining fall payments are due on the 15th of the month in September, October, November, and December; spring payments in February, March, April, and May.
You must enroll in the installment payment plan each semester. Once enrolled in the Installment Payment Plan all payments must be made online.

Families who have saved for their college expenses by investing in a 529 Plan have a number of choices in using this resource to meet their payment obligations. The information provided below provides a general guide for executing disbursements from a 529 plan.
State of Illinois Bright Start Plan
This 529 is administered for the State of Illinois by Oppenheimer Funds, Inc. and operates very much like a private plan, and you should contact them directly about withdrawal procedures. We recommend that you contact the plan representative at least 30 days prior to the payment due date for which you are using the distribution. Bright Start will then remit your plan distribution directly to Bradley and, in turn, we will credit your account.
State of Illinois College Illinois plan
Unlike the more common college savings 529 plans, College Illinois is a pre-paid tuition plan. This difference makes the disbursement procedures slightly more complicated. First, the actual value of a College Illinois contract varies from year to year and is typically not determined until approximately July of each academic year. In the 2023-2024 academic year, the per-credit-hour value is $560.57 for a university. Second, disbursements from a College Illinois plan are paid directly to Bradley University but only after verification of the student’s enrollment. However, so long as we know that you are using funds from your College Illinois plan Bradley will “carry” the portion of charges being paid by the plan until the funds arrive. Contact Bradley’s Student Fees office at stufees@bradley.edu requesting that we bill College Illinois prior to the payment due date for the semester. This must be done for each term that you want to use College Illinois funds.
Private Plans
If you have a college savings plan through a private investment company, you should contact them directly about withdrawal procedures. We recommend that you contact the plan representative at least 30 days prior to the payment due date for which you are using the 529 distribution. Some investment firms will remit your plan distribution directly to Bradley and, in turn, we will credit your account. In other cases, the distribution will be directly paid to you. In our experience, everything you will need to execute a distribution can be managed at the website of your investment firm.
Other State Plans
Nearly all 50 states have some type of a 529 plan. Visit SavingForCollege.com for a directory of state sponsored plans with contact and distribution information.

Additional Services & Information
- Review your bill at MyBradley.bradley.edu. Use the amount on the bill to request funds from your bank.
- The funds sent through this process are for tuition, fees, and room and board charges billed by Bradley University. Funds received will be used for current, past due and future terms.
- Do not request funds through this process for off-campus living expenses. You will need to make arrangements to have these funds come directly to you. Excess funds may be returned to Flywire.
- If you have not registered for classes for the coming term, you may estimate the amount needed by taking the current tuition rate times the number of hours you plan to register for. Be sure to include extra for course fees, surcharge fees, activity fee and health fee. Review the University fee structure.
- If your bank has questions about this process, you may provide them with 3rd party access to your billing by setting them up with a log in to view your bills. Instructions for this process is also at sfs.bradley.edu, click on “Charges and Payment Options” and then “Online Viewing and Payment”.
Students who receive tuition remission will be charged an additional $25, along with any applicable charges, if all classes are dropped. This is in effect for all terms – fall, spring, interims and summer.
The FSA (Federal Student Aid) Regulations administered by the U.S. Department of Education allow a school to apply all Title IV financial aid directly to a student’s institutional charges (student fee account). Bradley University requires all financial aid to be applied to a student’s account. If a student has more financial assistance than the amount of their institutional charges this creates what is referred to as a credit balance. FSA regulations require a school to process the credit balance directly to the student or parent in the form of a refund. However, the U.S. Department of Education does not specify how a school must determine which FSA funds create the credit balance to be refunded.
Bradley University has instituted the following procedures for applying student aid to a student fee account. Keep in mind that a student’s individual financial assistance package will vary and may not contain all types of awards listed.
Order of application of student aid toward Tuition, Fees, Room and Board Charges:
- State of Illinois MAP Grant
- Bradley Financial Aid
- Title IV grants (Pell Grant, SEOG)
- External Scholarships
- Federal Loans (PLUS Loan/Federal Grad PLUS Loan, Stafford Loans, Perkins and Nursing Loans
- Private Loans
Based on this application of aid, refunds will generally be processed in the student’s name and per the student’s request will be mailed to the permanent home address or deposited directly to a bank account. Students at other universities have been targeted by phishing campaigns designed to steal their personal information, including credentials (usernames and passwords). The passwords were then used to change direct deposit information for any refunds from financial assistance. Please be aware of phishing campaigns targeting you to steal your passwords, financial information, or refunds.
Refunds of $1.00 or less will not be processed.
Total course load at the end of the second week (Fall: Sept. 12, 2025 and Spring: Feb. 6, 2026) will be considered by the Bursar’s Office as the student’s semester course load base. Classes added after these dates will increase the semester course load base.
For example: On Sept. 15 a student is registered for 15 hours. This is the student’s semester base load. On Sept. 25 the student drops a three-credit hour course — the semester base load remains at 15 credit hours. On October 1 the student adds a three-credit hour class. The base load increases to 18 hours and the student is charged for the two extra hours.
If you drop one or more classes (reduction in hours), but remain registered for at least one course, the full tuition will be refunded for full semester classes (i.e. 15 weeks) dropped by the end of the second week of classes, ending Sept. 12, 2025 for fall and Feb. 6, 2026 for spring. There are no refunds for a class dropped after these dates, regardless of when the class begins.
In accordance with the Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018 Section 103, effective Aug. 1, 2019, Bradley University will not impose any penalty, including the assessment of late fees, the denial of access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities, or the requirement that a covered individual borrow additional funds, on any covered individual because of the individual’s inability to meet his or her financial obligations to the university due to the delayed disbursement of a payment to be provided by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs under chapter 31 or 33 of this title.
For purposes of this policy, a covered individual is any individual who is entitled to educational assistance under chapter 31 or 33 funding through the federal government. The covered individual must notify the institution via submission of a certificate of eligibility for entitlement to educational assistance not later than the first day of a course of education for which the individual has indicated the individual wishes to use the individual’s entitlement to educational assistance, submit a written request to use such entitlement, or provide additional information necessary to the proper certification of enrollment by the educational institution.
Please note that Bradley University operates each semester over a 15 week period. The following weeks will be used to determine the 60% completion date:
- 2024 Fall Semester – 10/23/2024 (week 9, 40% of funds returned)
- 2025 Spring Semester – 3/26/2025 (week 9, 40% of funds returned)
Health and wellness are key components to making your academic and personal experience at college both meaningful and successful. To avoid the potential hardship of medical expenses that may arise, we recommend that students maintain comprehensive health insurance coverage during your years at Bradley.
Domestic Students
Though Bradley does not offer a formal student health insurance program, you should be aware of options that you have for health insurance coverage while attending Bradley University.
- Coverage under a parent’s employer insurance plan: For those under age 26, you may qualify to enroll as a dependent on the health insurance held by a parent. Please contact the employer for further details.
- Individual coverage through your state insurance marketplace: Coverage is available for individual enrollment through the insurance marketplace in the state in which you are a permanent resident. Visit healthcare.gov and complete the questionnaire to view plans that you may qualify for. Depending on your household income, you may also qualify for a subsidy for coverage purchased through your state marketplace.
- Individual health insurance plans available on the open market (outside of the official state marketplace)
As you consider your options, please keep in mind the following:
- Premium — While many plans offer “cheaper” premiums, look at the deductibles, copays, and coinsurance as lower premiums frequently result in higher out-of-pocket costs and limited networks. Before making your decision, consider your entire potential out-of-pocket cost to determine the best value for your individual needs.
- Network — Does the network for the Plan extend to the Peoria IL region? Are the doctors you already see considered in-network? If you are an out-of-state student, pay special attention to networks that offer limited HMO networks as these will likely not cover you in Illinois.
- Deductible(the amount you must pay before insurance coverage begins) — Is this an amount you are prepared to pay before coverage can be accessed?
- Coinsurance (the amount insurance pays after the deductible is met) — Be aware of this coverage as you are responsible for the amount after coinsurance is applied. So if your plan has 70% coinsurance, you would be responsible for the remaining 30%.
- Copays — What is your copay for a doctor’s office visit? Specialist visit? ER Visit? Prescription Drugs?
Students in Distance Learning Programs, please refer to MyOnline.bradley.edu for the policies and deadlines specific to your program.
January & May Interims
For courses that meet during the interim periods, full tuition will be refunded for classes dropped on or before the first day of the term. A 50% refund is available for a class dropped within three days of the interim period. No refunds will be available for classes dropped four days after the interim begins.
*Partial Drops (Fall and Spring Semester)
If you drop one or more classes (reduction in hours), but remain registered for at least one course, the full tuition will be refunded for full and half semester classes dropped by the end of the second week of classes for the semester, ending September 12, 2025 for fall and February 6, 2026 for spring. There are no refunds for a class dropped after these dates, regardless of when the course begins. Course fees are not refundable.
Complete Withdrawal From The University
When a student withdraws from all classes, after completing registration, but before the official beginning day of University classes (August 27, 2025 or January 21, 2026), a full refund less a registration fee of $50 will be made for first semester freshmen and part-time students. All other full-time students will be charged a registration fee of $100.
Dropping all classes is considered a complete withdrawal from the University. If a full-time student decides to withdraw from the University, the student must contact Student Services. Appropriate documentation (Official Student Withdrawal Form) will be completed with that office.
