Manufacturing Engineering - Process Engineering Concentration
The concentration in process engineering gives you knowledge to understand and improve processes that drive the automotive, aerospace, heavy equipment and many other industries.
Preparing You for Success
As a student in the process engineering concentration, you learn about manufacturing materials, processes, and systems that make manufacturing industries prosper. Courses introduce you to product design, manufacturing processes, materials selection and design, automation and manufacturing systems. With this background, you will know how to efficiently design and make quality products.
By the time you graduate, your experiences may include:
- Design of tooling, fixtures, or machine;
- Six sigma approach to Optimization of manufacturing processes;
- Troubleshooting of quality or process issues within the manufacturing process;
- Networking and professional development through student organizations such as the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the American Society for Metals;
- Research projects, study abroad programs, co-op programs, internships and a semester-long senior design project.
Making Your Mark
Manufacturing engineering - Process engineering concentration graduates are valuable in working with product design team with material and processes innovation knowledge and skills. In recent years, almost all manufacturing engineering - Process engineering concentration students found jobs or continued their education within six months of graduation. They’re working at companies such as Boeing, CNH Industrial, John Deere, Caterpillar, and HON.
