Sweden’s Queen of Swing to perform two concerts at Bradley

Gunhild Carling, Sweden’s Queen of Swing, will light up the Bradley campus with her performances on Monday, Feb. 24 and Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025. The February 24 concert is in Dingeldine Music Center, and the Feb. 25 concert is in the Michel Student Center Ballroom. Both concerts are at 7:30 pm. She will be accompanied by the Bradley Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Todd Kelly. You will not want to miss this dynamic performer!

Gunhild Carling is a Swedish jazz musician, singer, and songwriter. A multi-talented musician, Carling can play ten different musical instruments, including trumpet, trombone, recorder, penny whistle, piano, harmonica, harp, and bagpipes. She can also sing and dance! She gained worldwide fame as a member of Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, and her YouTube videos have over 500 million views!

Carling was born in Gothenburg, Sweden on May 7, 1975. She is the daughter of Hans Carling and Aina Carling, both accomplished jazz musicians.

Besides her parents and herself, Gunhild Carling's siblings are all also accomplished musicians. Carling and her family perform around the world as The Carling Big Band, with Gunhild headlining the group. In addition to playing jazz music at their shows, they perform acrobatic stunts and other talents. Carling also guest performs with orchestras and choirs around the world on her own.

These concerts are part of the Doris J. Kolb Concert Series and the Bradley University Jazz Festival. Tickets are 25.00 for adults and 5.00 for students.  Tickets are available at the following links:
