Foster College Student Laptop Recommendations

2019-2020

The Foster College of Business recommends that all incoming freshmen and transfer students have a laptop computer to complete the coursework. Minimum specifications are noted below (you may purchase above these specifications, if desired).

Student Laptop Minimum Recommendations

A Windows laptop is recommended.

  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • Processor: Core i5 (8th generation)
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Storage capacity: 500GB hard drive
  • Extended warranty (4 year warranty with accidental damage protection)

We recommend the Dell Inspiron 500 Series. You may purchase your laptop through Bradley University.

Some software used in the Foster College of Business will not run on Apple computers but could be accessed in the college computer lab (PC Lab running Windows) during limited open hours.

PC/Windows machines are highly preferred and recommended. Apple laptops are not recommended but if a student chooses to select an Apple product, the following specifications would represent the minimum:

  • Operating System: Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra or newer
  • Processor: Core i5
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Storage capacity: 256GB hard drive
  • Extended warranty (4 year warranty with accidental damage protection)

You may purchase your Apple laptop through Bradley University. An ethernet adapter is also recommended for online testing.

Please note the extended warranty is an additional purchase for your laptop. You can also add a rider on parents’ homeowners insurance policy for added protection.

Software Recommendations:

  • Microsoft Office 2019*
  • Students can buy their own copy of the full version of Office for $40 at ThinkEDU.
  • *Mac version of Office is 2016
