Spanish Education (PreK-12)

The Spanish education major prepares you for the State of Illinois Professional Educator’s License in Spanish education, which qualifies you to teach world languages in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade classrooms.

Preparing You For Success

Bradley’s world languages education program provides you with opportunities to learn to speak Spanish at an advanced level. You’ll also learn about Spanish culture, literature, and linguistics, as well as gain the tools needed to teach a second language. With a thorough grounding in the liberal arts and sciences, you’ll combine classroom learning with real-world experiences. When you graduate, you’ll not only have an in-depth understanding of the subject, you’ll have developed critical thinking skills that allow you to create and analyze facts, attitudes, and values.

By the time you graduate, your experiences may include:

  • Opportunities to study abroad for a semester or with Bradley faculty during the January and May Interim terms in places like Costa Rica, Peru and Spain
  • Conversation tables
  • Projects that engage Peoria’s Spanish-speaking community

Making Your Mark

Spanish is one of the most-spoken languages in the world, and language teachers are in demand. While this is a new program, education students in other Bradley majors boast a 100% pass rate on Illinois licensure tests. Almost all find jobs within six months of graduation, working throughout Illinois and many surrounding states.
