Biography

Foremost for Dr. Estes are faith, family, and friendships. An avid consumer of historical topics, he spends a great deal of time reading and enjoys traveling to historical sites within the United States (with a future goal of traveling internationally). Dr. Estes and his family are active with their extended family and friends and spend time attending his children’s school and community activities as well as serving in their church.

Professional Experience

Dr. Scott Estes is a central Illinois native and has worked as a PreK-12 public school teacher and administrator for over twenty-nine years. After graduating from Bradley University, he started his career as a third-grade classroom teacher before moving on to a junior high teaching position as a United States history and literature teacher. Dr. Estes held the position of elementary principal for a decade before serving another decade as a district office administrator focused on, among other things, teaching and learning, literacy, human resources, administrator evaluation, professional development, and federal grants. He began his higher education teaching experiences as an adjunct professor in 2016. Before Bradley’s most recent reduction of programs, Dr. Estes was a full-time faculty member in the College of Education and Health Sciences’ Department of Education, Counseling, and Leadership from 2022 to 2024.

Dr. Estes joined the staff at the Smith Career Center in the summer of 2024. Very thankful for the opportunity to work at the SCC, he is assigned as the career advisor for the EHS College.

Dr. Estes continues to at Bradley as an adjunct professor, focused on graduate-level action research courses within the EHS College for the Department of Education, Counseling, and Leadership.

Scholarship

Dr. Estes’ professional interests are in research, instructional methods, curriculum development, teacher professional growth, and supervision of educational programs. He has participated in published articles, a research project with student teachers, and a national conference presentation – all with ECL faculty.

Over the course of his administrative career, he has spoken at several state and local conferences as well as local teacher training/school improvement sessions. He has also collaborated with professors and served as a guest speaker in the ECL Department along with assisting, as needed, within the Division of Student Affairs.
